An undercurrent of purpose.

“My goal would be to bring happiness and joy to people. Even to this day.”

Tiffany Hadish is a comedian, actress, popular-enough-person to be on Stephen Colbert’s late night show, but once upon a time she was a customer service person for Alaskan Airlines. Every day she would go into work with one thing on her mind. She wanted to bring joy to people. Even in the shortest interaction, and to people who will fly away never to meet again, she made sure her boarding announcements were cheery and that she brighten up the room. She wanted the passengers to leave better than when they came into the airport’s holding area. Some of the passengers even came back around to the airport to look her up because she was memorable. I think it’s because she was herself. She says in her interview that even now, as a TV personality, she still carries the same motivation and purpose—to entertain people and make them happy.

It makes me believe that we may go from one thing to another, one job to another, one place to another, but there is a purpose that runs deeper within us and it stays there, whether we are aware of it or not, until we manifest it into action and the lives of others (as much as ourselves) are better for having done so.
